Center Island Police Department reports 1.25 inch hail.

A spotter measured hail 3 inches in diameter, along with other reports of tennis ball size hail. This hail damaged around 150 cars in New Hyde Park, including the shattering of multiple windshields.

August 1, 2011 · 2.75″ (baseball)

Baseball size hail was reported around the Lakeville Road interchange with the Northern State Parkway. Multiple cars were reported to be damaged.
