Hail covered the ground south of the city. Mostly small hail was pea to dime size but there were a few quarter size hail stones with the storm.

August 11, 2022 · 1.5″ (ping-pong ball)

A trained spotter sent a message on social media confirming hail size seen on radar.

July 7, 2002 · 1.5″ (ping-pong ball)

A severe thunderstorm cell dropped 1.5 inch diameter hail that covered the highway in Sumpter and damaged vehicles in the town of Haines. The storm also produced winds that knocked a tree down onto a vehicle, injuring two people inside.
