A storm chaser and NWS cooperative weather observer reported quarter size hail north of Childress along US Highway 83 and northwest of Childress.
· 3.25″ (tea cup)
The hailstorm that began in northeastern Hall County continued to track east-southeast across far northern Childress County, with hailstones larger than teacups at times. However, the majority of the severe hail reports were generally tennis ball size or smaller. No damage information was available.
· 3.0″ (tea cup)
Numerous photos of hail larger than baseballs were received from the south and southeast parts of the city of Childress. The slow movement of this supercell storm compounded damage to hundreds of vehicles, homes and buildings in the area. Combined property losses are estimated to be around $2 million.
