Local broadcast media relayed a report of golf ball size hail in the city of Tulia. Numerous windows to residences and businesses were blown out due to wind driven hail.
· 7.02″ (grapefruit)
Employees from the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) conducted measurements of a giant hailstone. The stone fell approximately 3.90 miles west-northwest of Vigo Park along Farm to Market Road 2301 during a supercell thunderstorm on the evening of the second. From photographs, IBHS was able to determine that maximum hail diameter at 7.02 inches.

Meteorologists from the National Severe Storms Laboratory reported three inch diameter hail along Interstate 27 north-northwest of Tulia. Very large hail in the Tulia area resulted in damage to vehicles traveling along Interstate 27. In addition, minor damage to young cotton crops was reported.
